HALLUX VALGUS SUPPORT
Hallux valgus is the most common foot condition in adults. It is slightly more common in women than in men. Hallux valgus means that the big toe is crooked. The end of the big toe is pressed against the other toe and sometimes they overlap with the 2nd toe on top of the big toe. At the same time, the joint between the first metatarsal and the big toe becomes angled inwards, making the forefoot wider. This leads to pain and is also not cosmetically pleasing. A negative side effect of hallux valgus can also be the development of osteoarthritis in the base of the big toe, resulting in a stiff and painful big toe.

If hallux valgus is severe, surgery may be needed. CAUSES OF HALLUX VALGUS

The cause of hallux valgus is unknown. Narrow and tight shoes have often been blamed, but whether this is the only cause is not known with certainty. However, hallux valgus almost never occurs in barefoot people.

The symptoms can occur both in children and teenagers and in older people.

WHEN DO YOU RECOGNISE HALLUX VALGUS?

Often the symptoms are very minor when barefoot, but it is common to experience pain due to pressure from the shoes. This occurs under load and in connection with movement. The pain often increases as the load increases.
