Kinesiology tape
Kinesiology tape, or kinesio tape as it is also known, is a sports tape designed to provide support and stability to muscles and joints, thereby enabling freedom of movement for the user. The tape can also be used to relieve pain, increase blood circulation and aid muscle rehabilitation.
Here at Sportsmart, we have a wide range of tape for your muscles, tendons and joints - to help you with your training and recovery. All our orders are sent with fast delivery directly to your letterbox, and if you have any questions or need help, you can always contact our excellent customer service, either before or after your purchase.
Common uses for kinesiology tape
Kinesio is applied directly to the skin and should start to take effect immediately. The adhesive on the underside of the tape is designed to ensure that it does not start to come off when it comes into contact with sweat, and is designed to be used during both intense sports and at rest. There are many different ways to use kinesio, but the main ones are:
- Pain relief: The tape is used to relieve pain, which is its most popular use - especially during training and rehabilitation. Correct application improves relief on injured or sore muscles.
- Muscle support: The tape provides support to muscles and joints, which helps to relieve problem areas, prevent injuries and relieve pain. Depending on the taping, it can also remain on the muscle for several days.
- Circulation: As Kinesio lifts the skin away from the muscles, blood and lymph circulation is improved, which both speeds up and facilitates recovery. Due to their elastic properties, these products can also be stretched to reach different parts of your skin and its muscle groups.
- Proprioception: Many people use kinesiology tape to improve coordination and body awareness, as the tape's contact with the skin's sensory receptors contributes to increased stimulation in the body.
In other words, the tape can be applied according to your specific problems and what you want to achieve. We know from experience that our customers use the product in different ways the more they become familiar with it, so it can be a good idea to experiment and see what works for you.
How does kinesiology tape work?
Kinesio works by interacting with the body's muscular and sensory systems – but what exactly does this mean? By taping problem areas on your body, the skin is lifted from the muscles and joints, creating space for the tissues underneath. This space allows for improved circulation in the blood and lymphatic systems, which relieves pain and reduces swelling and inflammation.
